Treasure Island Junk Journal Challenge
Treasure Island
Challenge
April/May 2019
Treasure Island Challenge (revised 3rd May 2019)
April into May 2019
Treasure Island Challenge (revised 3rd May 2019)
April into May 2019
Our current craft challenge is to
make a junk journal with the theme of a Treasure Island. Nobody has to take
part in this challenge. It is supposed to be fun and a chance to forget your
problems for a short while each day, turning your thoughts to something
therapeutic. We all know the benefits that crafting has on our psyche. However,
if you want to join in and I hope you do, it’s not too late to catch up. Those
who join in will be on the boat when we set sail. Those who desist will be left
at home and will have to watch our progress on the television! So, welcome
aboard our jolly ship. I hope you enjoy the journey with the hope of treasure
to find…
For those of you who have not
made a junk journal before, this is an opportunity to start from scratch and be
guided along stage by stage and by doing it all together those of us who know
how to do it and are improvers do not have to go through the same processes
over and over again. Questions will arise as we go along and answers can be
given by those who are more experienced.
I have chosen the theme of a
Treasure Island because I thought it would appeal to everyone. Each of us has
our own style and will be encouraged to use it to best advantage.
Week One – Design a Treasure Map.
Examples can be found in Files if you feel you are not up to making your own.
Week Two –Make 12 tea-dyed pages
and collect some other ‘island’ related pages.
Week Three – Add pictures to the
tea-dyed pages at top corners using page in landscape mode. Examples and
pictures are available to you in Files.
Week Four – Make two or three
pages of flash cards and cut or tear them out. Then, distress the edges with
Tim Holtz distress ink and set aside for later. See Files for examples.
Week Five – Make another 12 pages
in blue using fabric dye or Koolaid.
I do hope you will join in with
this challenge. I think it will be a lot of fun and a rewarding experience craft
wise.
