Recipe Junk Journal

Junk Journals don't have to be covered in lace. This one by Sueann Kinman is a recipe junk journal and I think it works very well.

Donkey Journals junk journal

When you have assembled all those goodies together and made up your journal, this is what it might look like!

I say 'might' because our Nina is very accomplished and does some beautiful work. Some of us are not up to this standard but we are learning fast, helping and supporting each other every day and having great fun doing it.

Our active group is on Facebook, Search Junk Journal Penpals

This is one of mine, entitled 'A Very English Nanny'

Some examples of what we send and receive in our Group:

This is a heat tool I bought from Hobbycraft in England. It's going to be very useful for embossing.

There are different types available. Here is a useful video showing the difference between the one I bought and a Ranger.

An Initial Seal Set

This was a seal set that I picked up in a Charity Shop for a reasonable amount. It had my initial on it so I couldn't resist buying it and it is just perfect for finishing off the end of my journal. I used it for the first time on my bee journal, which is on my YouTube Channel 'Stella Jones'.

I hadn't used one of these before so I wasn't sure how to do it. I tried it first over a candle, but that didn't work so well. Then I held it over the gas ring, lit, and that worked a lot better. I got a nice big blob on the paper and only a little bit spilled on the hob.

Hello and Welcome

Welcome to Junk Journal Penpals. This is a new blog for people who are interested in making junk journals and would like to engage with a Penpal with the emphasis on getting to know other like minded people across the world, swapping ideas and inspirations and sharing the surplus of ephemera or other junk journal supplies with pals who cannot access the wealth of supplies available in some places. I want this to be a friendly place and to that end no abusive language or excessive advertising will be allowed. This will ensure that Junk Journals Penpals is a welcoming place to visit, a place where the visitors and members feel safe to share the things they have made with friends in other places.

Our Facebook Group is called Junk Journal Penpals Group.
Approaches regarding Penpals should be made through private messages or e-mail. Please do not put your address on here for security reasons. Junk Journal Penpals does not keep a list of addresses of Members. Once an approach has been made and accepted Members can agree between themselves what to send. You may swap ephemera etc. but postage is to be paid by the sender, not the recipient unless otherwise agreed.
We all love getting letters by snail mail. It takes longer to do but is so well received, especially if a small gift or gifts are included. I am encouraging you to write that letter and get to know your Penpal, learning as you go along, a little or a lot about the country or area of country, that they live in. Understanding each other is important, our ways of life, how we do things and why we do things differently. A lot of conflict could be avoided if only we took the time to get to know each other properly. There is an old native American saying which goes like this: ‘Never judge a man until you have walked a mile in his moccasins.’ True, isn’t it!
if you have any questions, please contact me, by e-mail. Many thanks.
